The Canaries signed off their one season stay in the Championship with a 2-2 home draw with Coventry, reports Mark Burchett and John Maiden.

After a goal-less first half, the packed Carrow Road were treated to four goals in the space of twelve second half minutes. Against the run of play the visitors opened the scoring through Richard Keogh, although two goals from Grant Holt and Dani Pacheco put the home side in the driving seat, before Lukas Jutkiewicz equalised.

Paul Lambert made just one change to his 18 man match day squad with on-loan Rob Edwards making way on the bench for City stalwart Adam Drury, who next year will enjoy a well-deserved testimonial next season.

In a curious twist Russell Martin and Elliot Ward faced one of their former clubs, Coventry, who included former Canaries Sammy Clingan and David Bell! Also in the Sky Blues starting line-up was rookie keeper Michael Quirke, standing in for Keiren Westwood, who had failed a late fitness test.

Before kick-off Simeone Jackson was presented with the nPower Championship Player of the Month award - just reward for his 8 goals in April including hat-tricks at home to Scunthorpe and Derby.

Not surprisingly, Grant Holt won the fan's vote to be presented with the Barry Butler Player of the Season trophy.

Coventry kicked off towards a Barclay end bathed in spring sunshine.

The game had an end of season feel about with few chances at either end. Defender Zack Whitbread tried an audacious overhead kick from David Fox's 14th minute corner, with the ball only just clearing the bar.

The best chance for the home side was Grant Holt's 40th minute diving header that brought a terrific point blank save from the Sky Blue's young keeper, Quinn. While for the visitors it was Chris Hussey's 7th minute shot that forced John Ruddy into a save.

Neither manager made any changes at half-time.

The game finally game to life in terms of goals in the 54th minute, when Keogh scored a scrappy goal from close range. Hussey's shot rebounded off the post and fell to the Coventry striker who guided the ball past John Ruddy into the bottom right hand corner.

The visitors lead lasted just three minutes before Holt headed home Mark Tierney's precision left-wing cross. That was to be his last touch of the game as before Coventry kicked-off again, City's inspirational captain left the field of play to a well-deserved standing ovation, to be replaced by Pacheco.

The City boss made his second change of the game bringing on the pacy Henri Lansbury on loan from Arsenal, for Andrew Surman.

Within two minutes of Lansbury's introduction he set up fellow substitute Pacheco to put the Canaries into the lead for the first time in the game. The on-loan Liverpool Spanish striker showed some real class in the Sky Blues area to put Lansbury's cross into the top left hand corner.

Amazingly though, within just two minutes the visitors equalised themselves. Hussey was again involved, this time crossing low to Jutkiewicz in the Canaries area, who fired the ball inside Ruddy's left hand post.

Lambert showed a rare moment of sentiment giving Drury a run out for the final 17 minutes, replacing Mark Tierney.

There were no further goals and this time there was to be no late goal from the home-side, that the City fans have become accustomed to!

After the final whistle the players and manager were presented with their League runners-up medals, with captain and top scorer Holt holding aloft the trophy to spark a rousing send off from the home-fans.
