Norwich City 2 Wolves 0

Chris Llewellyn and Daryl Sutch were dropped from the team that started against Grimsby in mid-week, being replaced by Paul McVeigh and Steen Nedergaard. The rest of the team was unchanged.

Wolves came to Carrow Road boasting an away record of six wins, two draws and no losses on the road, but they were soon on the back foot and fell behind when McVeigh beat two men down the left before squaring for Marc Libbra.

Libbra found Mark Rivers, Rivers's shot was blocked on the line by Joleon Lescott and the ball fell to Roberts, who poked the ball home from close range for his eighth of the season.

Wolves responded in a positive fashion and came close to levelling the score in the 18th minute when Andy Sinton's 20-yard effort was saved by Robert Green at the second attempt.

Sinton was made to rue that miss just after the half-hour mark when Norwich doubled their lead. Rivers raced down the right flank and held the ball up well before sending in a pinpoint cross for McVeigh to volley home his fourth of the season at the far post.

Just before the break it could have been 3-0, when Steen Nedergaard's wonderful 25-yard effort agonisingly hit the underside of the bar before bouncing to safety.

Dave Jones brought on Cedric Roussel just after half time to try and liven things up front for the visitors, but although Wolves enjoyed plenty of possession in the second period, chances were at a premium.

Lescott had a shot well saved by Green, whilst at the other end, on for Mark Rivers, substitute Alex Notman saw two volleys fly over the bar but Norwich cantered home in the end and are now up to second in the table, two points behind Wolves.

Comment: Norwich's 442 formation worked brilliantly, and although Marc Libbra didn't get on the score-sheet he was fantasic up-front and kept the crowd fully entertained with his skill and trickery. He should definately start every match! As should McVeigh, who was quick as anything and as well as going forward -both making goals and scoring them - did his fair share of defensive work. He also spent the whole afternoon taking the piss out of the evil Kevin Muscat, dummying him brilliantly at every available oportunity :o)
