Damien Francis smashed a dramatic last minute leveller to save Premiership hopefuls Norwich from their second consecutive defeat, as Rotherham striker Martin Butler grabbed a hat-trick.

Francis struck in the dying seconds with a close-range shot after Leon McKenzie headed down a Paul McVeigh corner.

Millers boss Ronnie Moore and defender Guy Branston were sent off after an ugly half-time scuffle, Moore being ordered to watch from the stand as his side played the second half a man short.

Before that, Rotherham went in front in the 28th minute when Shaun Barker's long throw ricocheted in the area and Butler pounced, placing his shot wide of Robert Green.

The goal sparked dormant Norwich into life and they bounced back almost immediately, as McVeigh crossed from the right, Gary Holt flicked it on and Iwan Roberts crashed in a low shot.

Three minutes later Norwich seized the lead. Darren Huckerby crossed from the left and Leon McKenzie powered a header that was blocked by Pollitt but McKenzie drove in the rebound.

Then Butler pulled Rotherham level four minutes before the break with a towering header after Chris Sedgwick's cross from the right.

But seconds before the break Norwich were in front again when Barker challenged Huckerby in the area, sending the ex-Manchester City star down only to get up and score from the spot.

It sparked a furious reaction from the home fans and players who accused Huckerby of diving and a scuffle broke out in the tunnel as the two sides left the pitch, resulting in the two dismissals.

Rotherham were level again in the 65th minute though, when Martin Butler completed his hat-trick.

John Mullin swung in a cross from the right and Butler leapt with keeper Green who went down under the challenge, but Butler drilled his shot into the open goal before casting an anxious glance at the referee to see if he was to be penalised.

Rotherham were in front after 75 minutes. A cross from Darren Byfield was dropped by Green under pressure and Mullin hammered in the lose ball for the Millers' fourth.

But then Francis levelled in the 89th minute.
