However, Sheffield Wednesday produced a dramatic second-half revival to claim a precious point as they battled for their first division lives.

Norwich's former Manchester United midfielder David Healy - on loan from Preston - did the damage in the first half scoring one and creating the second.

Until Healy's 18th minute opener Norwich had failed to produce a threat on goal and Wednesday had forced City keeper Robert Green into a scrambled save after a dangerous cross from Brian Barry-Murphy was almost squeezed in by Shefki Kuqi.

But Healy provided a cool first-time shot to put Norwich ahead after Iwan Roberts flicked on a curling cross from Darel Russell.

Only a fingertip save from Kevin Pressman denied Norwich again after 29 minutes when Malky Mackay's header was goalbound from Phil Mulryne's corner.

Three minutes before the break Healy was the provider with an inviting cross from the right for Roberts to head in his seventh goal of the season.

Wednesday went close early in the second half when Barry-Murphy's 56th minute corner was headed wide by Allan Johnston at the near post and a low shot from the Scot, who is on loan from Middlesbrough, was easily held by Green.

But Wednesday pulled one back in the 66th minute to spark hopes of a dramatic comeback.

Barry-Murphy's inswinging corner found Carl Robinson at the far post and the 26-year-old, who is on loan from Portsmouth, beat Green with a powerful header.

In a grandstand finish Alan Quinn claimed his third goal of the season in the 76th minute to salvage a point.

A poor headed clearance from Mackay dropped kindly for the Wednesday man who cut inside and rifled a stinging low drive to beat keeper Green.
