Phil Mulryne made his first start for 5 weeks
Worthington started this away match with an optimistic 4-3-3 formation, loan signing Trevor Benjamin joining David Nielsen and Paul McVeigh up-front in a three pronged attack. Phil Mulryne made his first start since our home FA Cup tie against Chelsea in January, joined in midfield by Gary Holt and loan player Andy Roberts, filling in for the suspended Darel Russell. In defence Darren Kenton again filled in for the injured Adam Drury at left-back, following his MOTM performance and 2 goals against Sheff Utd in that position last week.

In the first half Trevor Benjamin looked lively, the Brom keeper Russell Hoult easily collecting his header on 6 minutes and 5 minutes later his long range left-foot volley going just wide. A minute later and Norwich had a defensive scare; Green took too long with his goal-kick and was charged down by Adam Chambers, the ball thankfully bouncing wide.

On 15 minutes David Neilsen has a great chance to put Norwich ahead, a pacey exchange between himself, Roberts and McVeigh resulting in him putting the ball agonizingly wide from six yards out. After Trevor Benjamin recorded another speculative effort, Nielsen had a second golden opportunity to put City in-front. He just had the keeper to beat but took too long to get his shot in, perhaps confused by Benjamin running straight at him, and in the end his curling shot was easily saved by Hoult.

Trevor Benjamin looked promising
A clash between Benjamin and Hoult resulted in Hoult being down some time with a nose-bleed. Following this lengthy delay, Norwich were caught off-guard and the Baggies took the lead with their first real opportunity. Neil Clement chipped a left-wing cross into the heart of the Norwich defence where Dichio prodced a brilliant finish to head the ball home.

The scoreline was a bit harsh on Norwich, we didn't deserve to be behind. We had another opportunity to score before half-time; Neil Clement's free-kick bouncing off the cross-bar, and Green thankfully punching the rebound clear.

Both teams had several decent chances in the second half, Norwich looking better once Rivers and Sutch came on for Ndergaard and McVeigh and eventually switched to 4-4-2. Green saved from Clement, Dichio, Chambers and Roberts twice, whilst for Norwich Hoult made good saves from Rivers and Notman.

Both teams gave it plently of effort, but neither side dominated and Norwich will be disappointed not to have got anything from the game.
