Reserves go out with a whimper

The Canaries reserves signed off their Premiership Reserve League life in the manner typical of their difficult season tonight, failing to score in a 2-0 defeat.

Both Norwich and the home side Southampton will be forced to compete in an alternate league next season after all non-Premiership clubs were barred from the elite reserve competition. Facing the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal has proved rewarding if difficult for Keith Webb's youngsters, who have lacked experienced heads for much of this term in the absence of many injured stars from the first team squad.

Victory for the Saints at Staplewood secured second spot in the league behind Tottenham, with goals on the night from Josh Dutton-Black and former Nottingham Forest man David Prutton.
