Brandon Williams has admitted that there would be 'no point' in him returning to Manchester United at the end of the season if he is not going to feature regularly.
Williams is currently on loan at Norwich City where he has started the last ten Premier League games in a row.
Although the Canaries have endured a challenging season, the 21-year-old insisted that he has enjoyed his time at Carrow Road since Dean Smith replaced Daniel Farke in November.
"It wasn't the best of starts. All I've ever known is Manchester United. Coming to a new club, so far away from my family, was difficult," he told the Daily Mail.
"I was in and out of the team and thinking, 'Is this right for me?'. But since the gaffer has come in, it's been a real turnaround. He's helped me and Billy. He's getting the best out of us."
Williams is due to return to Man Utd in the summer, but he went on to express doubts over whether he sees a future for himself at his boyhood club.
"I'm playing games now and I love it. I can't wait for the weekend so I can get to the stadium. There would be no point in me going back to United and just sitting on the bench," he said.
"I want to play and feel I'm better equipped for the Premier League after this experience. Whether it's at United or somewhere else, we'll deal with that in the summer. But I've got a job to do here at Norwich."
At left-back United already have Luke Shaw and Alex Telles, so Williams may need to head out on loan again, or even leave permanently, if he wants first-team football. His current contract is set to expire in 2024.
