Striker Treated For Skin Cancer

The veteran forward, who is expected to complete a move to Gillingham in the next few days, has confirmed that he had surgery to remove a mole on his arm that was diagnosed as a malignant melanoma.

"The surgeon told me we got it at an early stage which was a good thing," he said.

"But he said there was a 20% chance it may come back so I have got to go for check-ups for the next five years.

"The gaffer (Nigel Worthington) was brilliant and said I could have as much time off as I wanted.

"But I just wanted to get on with training and I would only have sat around at home dwelling on things."
