Wednesday Word's

Nigel Worthington today confirmed he has made an enquiry about the former Ipswich Town striker and I was curious as to how Norwich fans would react to Scowcroft coming to Carrow Road.

I raised the topic on popular Norwich City message board 'Wrath of the Barclay' and here are some of the opinions given by the members of the board.

‘From the limited number of times I have seen him play, (on telly), I don't rate him. Obviously wouldn't boo him if he signed, as much as I hope we don't sign him’ – bjt

‘Personally from what I have seen of him he won’t add much to our squad than what we already have. I’m sure we could do a lot better if we r talking about signing him as our main target man. However from what ‘Hendrikus’ has been saying we r trying to sign Scowcroft and another big target man. If that is the case then perhaps as a right-sided midfielder he may be good enough but i cant remember ever seeing Scowcroft play there. Like I said I would support any player in our colours completely. However many will not and if he does sign, unless he is a success straight away he will not be given a chance and will be booed continuously’ – grimsbycanary

‘He is a good player, just like Putney and Foxy in the past, people will learn to like him.
All this sc*m bo****ks is just crap, he will play his heart out for us. I trust Worthy on this’ – coney

‘He strikes me, as someone who is unspectacular, probably no better than players we already have but also as someone who is a model professional who always works hard and says and does the right things. I think he might be worth a chance’ - Clare

Rooney's View

I don't see him as the ideal signing. He is a decent player but is much better than Svensson or McKenzie? I personally wouldn't have a problem with the fact he used to play for Ipswich, as that is in the past. Although I think there are better players out there, Scowcroft's versatility would add something to our squad. I trust Sir Nigel in the transfer market.
