Nigel Worthington is excited about the fact that part of the new stand is to be opened ahead of schedule. Worthington also beleives Norwich can use this extra stand to their advantage.

Since Carrow Road only had three stands Norwich have had a fantastic home record winning 34 of the 42 points on offer. Worthington believes the extra stand will give the players an almightly lift for the massive game with the Blades.

"The fact that part of the new stand will be open for the Sheffield United game is great news for our supporters and great news for us as well," said the City boss. "I'd just like to say a big thank-you to everyone who has worked so hard behind the scenes to make this happen.

"We've all seen the new stand taking shape during the season and it's really exciting to think it will be in use for the first time at the weekend.

"It means more of our fans will be able to watch the Sheffield United match and that's got to be a good thing.

Worthington admits that Sheffield United are a very strong side and Norwich will have to be at their best to defeat Neil Warnock's men.

"There's no doubt Sheffield United are a very strong side," he said. "But having said that they are beatable and it should be an excellent game on Saturday.

"We've just got to go out there and play with freedom, play as well as we can do – while at the same time putting in the necessary hard work. The one thing you can be sure of is that they will come down here and work extremely hard for 90 minutes and we've got to match them on that."

On the fitness of former Charlton striker Matthias Svensson Worthington belives Saturday's game will 'come a little too soon for him'
